Scope of Research
- cultivation and phytochemical analysis of medicinal plants;
- isolation and identification/structure determination of bioactive secondary metabolites;
- quantitative analysis of compounds in plant materials;
- studies on the production and biosynthesis of bioactive constituents in plant tissue cultures;
- micropropagation of medicinal plants.
Methods
Separation and purification of plant constituents:
- conventional column chromatography;
- preparative thin layer chromatography;
- semipreparative HPLC.
Identification of isolated compounds and their quantitative analysis:
- ultraviolet and infrared spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, 1H and 13C NMR (1D and 2D) spectroscopy, HPLC/DAD.
Others:
- callus and cell suspension cultures, Agrobacterium rhizogenes-transformed root cultures, organ cultures, PCR, electrophoresis.
