The J.J. Supniewski Foundation

The J.J. Supniewski Foundation was created and registered in 1985, following a one million zloty bequest from the estate of Associate Professor Jadwiga Supniewska. This donation has been and continues to be supplemented by single or regular donations from the domestic pharmaceutical industry (KFZ Polfa-Cracow since 1986) or from foreign pharmaceutical firms that cooperate with the Institute (since 1991).

From the beginning the Foundation has provided for funding of young and promising scientist. These awards are granted, as provided by separate regulations, by the Board of the Foundation based on recommendations from the Institute's Scientific Council. Between 1986 and 2009 a total of 34 grants were awarded (L. Antkiewicz-Michaluk, R. Przewłocki, W. Lasoń, E. Mogilnicka, K. Wędzony, A. Pilc, M. Papp, A. Czyrak, W. Daniel, M. Śmiałowska, M. Dziedzicka-Wasylewska, P. Popik, I. Nalepa, A. Stojakowska, M. Bijak, M. Kubera, K. Ossowska, B. Karolewicz, M. Filip, J. Turchan, B. Budziszewska, J. Wardas, J. Wójcikowski, A. Basta-Kaim, M. Pietraszek, B. Szewczyk, M. Kajta, A. Pałucha, A. Haduch, J. Wierońska, E. Kozela, J. Mika, M. Kot, M. Korostyński).

The Foundation's statute was amended in 1991: presently its funds can be applied to assist young and outstanding scientist at the Institute to cover the costs of their research or trips abroad (for research, consultations, active participation in congresses or symposia, etc.), and for presentation of annual awards.
